“The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: But the word of our God shall stand for ever.” Isaiah 40:8
“But the word of our God shall stand for ever.” What an incredible promise from God (Yahweh)! He has emphasized the importance of putting our trust and dependance on Him and not on others, by warning, “The grass withereth, the flower fadeth” twice in the last two verses. His “word”, promises, business, commandments, and purpose have never changed and will never change. God doesnʼt “change His mind” and leave us freaking out, wondering what to do. God never fails, for His word endures forever – itʼs His nature!
The nation of Israel had this promise to cling to and comfort them during their exile. We too have this same hope and promise. My circumstances do not dictate who God is and who He wants to be in and through me. When I know His purpose never changes I can fully surrender, trust and allow Him to accomplish His work in me.
Do you know, believe, and trust God for who He says He is in His Word? God doesnʼt care about the Sunday school answer, “Yes, I trust God.” He wants your life to be an uncompromising testimony that He is God and you can trust Him to be all you need. If your answer is truly ‘yes’, you possess an incredible opportunity to share the redemption story God has written in your life, with a lost and dying world that is searching for someone they can trust. Allow God to use your life and point them to Jesus Christ – Who is all about redeeming you and pursuing a relationship with you, as He has done with Israel.
