Guys’ and Girls’ Journey in Florida

by | May 11, 2017

The Youth Journey in Florida was a great sacrifice for the leaders. Being down south in almost perfect weather, on a lake, with a soft breeze usually blowing, as you can imagine, was very difficult.

Now, sarcasm aside. We were a little uncertain about taking the Journey down to FL, but we decided to give it a try, March 18-26. After it was all finished, we were so glad we did.

The camp where it was held was ideal in so many ways, the main one being the staff’s love for God and dedication to His kingdom. They were a blessing the entire time we were there, and we got to experience yet again how precious it is to work with other members of the body of Christ.

From sessions to tubing on the lake, and from group discussions to archery, there were all kinds of activities during the week. We were blessed to have Paul and Jenny Speed join us and share so much good truth with us. We enjoyed working with the camp staff on some projects they needed to get done, and we also spent time on our own seeking to get to know Christ better.

By the end of the week, hearing every young person share something God had taught them brought several of us to the point of tears. Ok, well, some of us were actually crying, including the director of the camp, a man of God who delights in watching God work. It was a really special time, and hearing the young people share about how they heard from the Lord made all the hassle and travel worth it! God was faithful in showing Himself to those who wanted to hear from Him, and it was amazing to see.
