Bearing Witness

“And ye also shall bear witness, because ye have been with me from the beginning.”

John 15:27

The Holy Spirit of God is God. The Spirit of Truth which Jesus promised to send from the Father, is the very Spirit of God that is every moment available to be received. His Spirit is moment-by-moment revealing the Son. Christ Jesus revealed the Father to us on earth because the Spirit of God our Father was ever abiding in Him. They were walking absolutely one with each other because they were abiding in each other.

Then we come to the words, “And ye also shall bear witness…”

Jesus was speaking to his disciples. He said that they also shall bear witness of Him. The Spirit of God testifies of Jesus and he said his disciples shall also bear witness. How? John 14:26 it says that the father will send in Christ’s name the Comforter which is the Holy Spirit and He shall teach us all things and bring all things to our remembrance “whatsoever I have said onto you.”

The Spirit of God abiding in Jesus’ disciples is the only way that they shall bear witness of Him. The disciples were being discipled by Him. Jesus said in John 8:3, “If you continue in my word then are you my disciples indeed.”

In John 14:15-17 Jesus said, “If you love me keep my commandments.
And I will pray the Father, and He shall give you another Comforter, that He may abide with you forever. The Spirit of Truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth Him not, neither knoweth Him; but ye know him; for He dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.”

The prerequisite of receiving the Spirit of God abiding in us, is keeping, guarding, meditating on God’s commandments. Jesus said in John 14: 21 “He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.”

Also in verse 23 he says” If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.”

Jesus’ disciples were with Him from the beginning. They spent time with Him, sitting at His feet, receiving His words. Therefore they were able to bear witness of Him. It is to those that sit at Jesus’ feet, receiving His commandments, that He manifests Himself intimately to.

We are enabled to bear witness of Jesus only as we spend time receiving Him who is the Word that was made flesh and dwelt amongst (within) us. It all comes down to the Word of God, keeping it, meditating on it, engrafting it into our hearts. Out of the abundance of our hearts our mouths will speak. It is as we eat the Word, the flesh of Christ, that we taste and see that the Lord, He is good. Then our mouths and lives bear witness of Christ abiding in us.

John 8:18 “I am one that bear witness of myself, and the Father that sent me beareth witness of me.”

“The heavens Declare the Glory (recognition) of God” Psalm 19:1a

“There is more recognition of the Life of Christ in a single person that is fully surrendured to God then in all the sunrises created.”
